Barwa Bank’s Ramadan indoor football championship Fair play for a fair cause

Doha, 30 July 2011 - Barwa Bank, Qatar's newest Sharia'h compliant banking service
provider, in collaboration with Qatar Charity is organising the first Ramadan indoor
football championship in Qatar. The tournament will start today in Al Sadd Club in

The tournament is organised by Barwa Bank in which 16 teams have registered to
play in 4 groups from August 1 till August 19. Barwa Bank will triple the amount of
registration fees and donate it to Qatar Charity to help families and children in Qatar
during the month of Ramadan.

Mr. Saeed Al-Nabet, Head of Barwa Banks’ Football Committee , commented on the
occasion: “Football is the number one popular sport amongst youth in Qatar as it is
around the world. We want this initiative to be a platform for them to practice their passion
while contributing to the well being of others during the holy month of Ramadan.
We would like to thank Qatar Football Association for their support with the upcoming
tournament, and AL SADD Club for providing us indoor stadium. We are proud to be
investing in Qatar’s most valuable asset, its youth, and hope to continue to grow the
profile and importance of this championship in the years ahead”

The championship aims at encouraging sports and healthy lifestyles among youth in
Qatar, as well as giving the football fans and players an opportunity to contribute to the
well being of the community.
