Barwa Bank’s 1st Professional & Amateur Squash Championship to be biggest in Qatar history
Doha, 22 March 2011 - Barwa Bank, Qatar's newest Shari'ah compliant banking service provider, is gearing up towards the official launch of the largest squash tournament in the history of Qatar. The tournament will take place over five days from 24th to 28th of March in Khalifa Tennis & Squash Complex in Doha.
The tournament, organised by Qatar Squash Federation and Barwa Bank, is open to male and female players in 10 different categories, from all ages in both amateur and professional classifications.
The tournament was announced earlier via a media campaign, and in different sports clubs, resulting in an unprecedented number of applications. The total number of contestants is 186 players in all categories, at least 70% of whom are young Qataris.
Winners in each of the categories will receive cash prizes and trophies to be presented by Mr. Steve Troop, CEO of Barwa Bank, other officials from the bank and the Qatar Squash Federation.
